“Dream Draw” focuses on Carl Jung’s theory of the unconscious as a source of repressed desires, existing in a world that is just as vital and real a part of an individual’s life as the conscious, "thinking" world of the Ego. However, the unconscious is infinitely broader and richer. The language and "people" of the unconscious are symbols, and the means of communication are dreams.
Accepting the existence of the unconscious would imply the presence of two "subjects" or, in other words, two personalities within the same individual. The search for and acquaintance with oneself in this dualistic human nature often culminates in a state of disintegration—neurological conditions, lack of sleep, confusion, etc. Disintegration of the body. Disintegration of the mind. Disintegration of the unconscious. But after every disintegration, there follows a rebuilding. And so, it continues, again and again.
‼️ The "psyche" is not identical to our consciousness and its contents.
“I fall into myself and my ego falls into its self. I am no longer I, but it is that which does nothing but return to itself. In French, we say of someone who regains consciousness that they "return to themselves" [revient à soi]. But in reality, they return to the differentiation between the "I" and the "Other," they return to the distinction from the world...”
